Beta Alpha Psi

Beta Alpha Psi was founded in 1919 and the Kappa Eta Chapter was chartered at Texas State University—San Marcos in 2001.  Since our inception the national office has recognized us each year with the superior chapter award.  This included our pledge year which has only been awarded to two chapters.  Our chapter maintains this honor by obtaining pledges, members, and officers that commit themselves to the highest standards.

Beta Alpha Psi meets in conjunction with the Accounting Club every Thursday at 5 pm during the Fall and Spring semesters.  Other events and activities vary and are scheduled each year.

Financial Literacy Program FAQ’s

Q: Why am I just now hearing about this?

A: Our Financial Literacy program began small in the Fall of 2007 with a Brochure and presentations to Principles of Financial Accounting classes and the Pre-Business Freshman Interest Group.  Since then, we have been able to visit over 1000 students in their classrooms at the McCoy College of Business.  As of March 2008, we have set out to reach a wider audience within our University community.

Q: Why are you doing this?

A: Beta Alpha Psi is a national organization which sets out each year to create “Best Practices.”  One option for the 2007-2008 academic year was to initiate a Financial Literacy program on campus to educate students about money management.  We were very excited about this opportunity and proud to bring it to Texas State!

Q: Okay, sounds good.  What does it cost?

A: Nothing!  Nada!  Zip!  Zilch! … You get the idea.  We are doing this program as a community service and as such will never charge.

Q:             Is this site ever updated?

A: Yes, frequently. Expect updates throughout 2008 and 2009 as we expand this project to include high school

Financial Literacy Programs.  If you can’t find the information you are looking for, please Contact Us.

Q: You guys are accountants, right?  Will you do my taxes?

A:             We are students interested in Accounting careers… and No.
